Pitching Lessons

Fastpitch Softball

Mechanics: The basic moves to establish a foundation to pitch.

Strength: Building the pitching muscles to accommodate the mechanics and generate speed.

Techniques: Creating more speed from the mechanics and start the development of various pitches.

Various Pitches:

Fastball, drop-ball, change-up, rise-ball and curveball are taught - based on each individual's ability to adapt. The fastball is the natural pitch for all starting pitchers, the drop-ball is the first pitch and least difficult to learn. Second is the change-up to allow variations of speed. The rise-ball and curveball are the most difficult and are the last to be taught.

Intelligence:

Intelligence of the game is as important to understand as the mechanics. Individuals are taught:

  • How to utilize the strike zone for best results
  • Pitching to various hitters in the line-up
  • How to read the hitter
  • The importance of the ball and strike count to stay ahead of the hitter
  • Where and how to best utilize pitch locations
  • Where to throw certain pitches

Training is based on each individual’s ability to adapt. Each phase must be achieved prior to moving to the next phase. The amount of time spent on each phase depends on the individual’s desire, commitment (including practicing between lessons), and understanding of that phase. The client and their parents should determine their goals and what they are interested in learning prior to beginning lessons.

PLEASE NOTE:

Each individual is scheduled for a specific time and day of the week (we refer to this as a “slot”). Due to the fact that we have committed this specific time to training this particular individual, you are responsible for payment of this slot whether you are here or not (illness or injury is the only exception). Fees are to be paid in advance at the beginning of each month. We understand that this is not feasible for every family’s household budget. For those, we require 2 week’s payment initially and 1 week’s payment each week thereafter to insure that 1 week is always paid in advance.
